Gig For Gaza is being co-organised and produced by Andrew Bass of Central Entertainment Bureau. He said, “People on all sides of the political spectrum have been appalled by the deaths of innocent children and civilians. There’s a strong tradition in Ireland of our people responding to others in their time of need, and the on-going horror of the situation in Gaza has deeply touched artists within the music community too.”
Co-organiser and producer for Gig for Gaza Lesley Kane said, “This event was organised on behalf of the musicians of Ireland who wanted to make a contribution to the civilians of Gaza. We have been overwhelmed by the response and the solidarity shown by Irish performers and technical crews. Every effort will be made to ensure that our fund-raising for Amnesty will be optimized and the evening promises to be a memorable one”
Colm O’Gorman, Executive Director of Amnesty International Ireland said: “Irish people have a long standing concern for the victims of the conflict in Gaza. It has been truly horrific to witness the impact of this latest round of violence; the images of death and devastation we have all watched on our screens have been appalling. Amnesty International is working to ensure that all those who are responsible for such atrocities are held to account, and that the impunity they have enjoyed for far too long, finally comes to an end, said
“The victims of war crimes and human rights violations deserve justice. Achieving that is central to ending the cycle of death and destruction that has blighted their lives.
We are grateful to all the artists who are giving their time and their creativity to support us in this vital work, and to the producers of what promises to be an amazing gig for putting the show together. I can’t wait to be there on the night and stand with them, and hopefully a packed house, in solidarity with the people of Gaza.”
