The ballet touches upon a universal issue: that of happiness, of self-actualisation and well-being available to us every day. This ballet is unique in the way that it brings street dance into the theatre and gives it a central focus. It unites professional dancers of various styles (classical ballet, modern dance, hip hop, popping, break dance and krump), nationalities and cultures (Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Brasil, Argentina, France, Italy, Australia, Turkey, Poland, South Africa). ErnBotTik who performs the part of the Watchmaker dances in the popping style. He is one of the few professionals who dance and teach popping in Ireland.

“The Watchmaker” presents the reality of people living in a busy modern city. Lost amidst the hustle and bustle of routine, precious moments of life slip by unappreciated.  By means of dance we see family disputes, children neglected, self-criticism and addiction. The main character is a watchmaker. He is aware of every moment. While enjoying the here and now, he leads a mindful and fulfilling life. He observes the people of the city and endeavours to help them as much as possible. Ultimately these citizens must choose either to accept their true calling: to appreciate and take advantage of the time they are gifted or to while away their hours in stress and despair.

Evil spirits spread like a deadly virus throughout the city, trying to destroy peace and harmony. They infect the world, stealing the lifetime of the unsuspecting citizens. The characters overcome adversity.

What solution they will find and what will happen next – to be discovered during the show.

Our show is 1 hour long, plus the break 15 min, the intro  5 min and the story 5 min. The structure of the performance includes two acts (14 scenes) set in “the Street”, the World of Shadows, and the Watchmaker’s atelier.
